My fascination with Putz Houses Started…

with a dusty old box of tiny houses I found “exploring” my grandparents’ attic one rainy afternoon. They were faded, with only a few surviving spots of glitter, but they were magical to me!

Instead of scolding me for “getting into things” when my stern German grandfather discovered me playing with the houses, he actually offered to help me repair them!

While we patched & painted those little houses around the kitchen table, my serious professor like grandfather became a totally different person. He smiled and laughed as he and my grandmother shared stories of Christmases past when they were young & those putz houses had been magical to them too.

Those little glitter houses disappeared long ago, and my grandparents have passed, but memories of that wonderful time together inspired me to recreate Christmas Village houses for my daughters & share their magic with you!
